about
Born out of our old dingy, wet, leaky old concrete practice space, “Pirate Radio Queen” is an homage to all of the young people out there doing their own thing, and rocking out to their own stations. We wrote this one about 4 or 5 years ago and it’s been a live staple, but now finally exists for all to enjoy. Inspired in part by some Uranium Club songs grant was listening to at the time, this was a mashup between a chorus that Henry wrote and a verse Grant was kicking around. And of course, Gianni brought the glue. There is a slight chord difference between the first and second verses… can you find it??
lyrics
Verse:
I know she’s a Queen of the radio dial
And she’s got jet black hair
But I know she only speaks every once in a while
But you know that she’s there
And I know it takes a minute to understand her
But you’ll know it when it’s there
But I heard that she sleeps on the way to the cab
Chorus:
And she’s a pirate radio queen
She’ll tell your mother what it means
To be a silent radio scene
And be a pirate radio reject
Verse 2:
But I heard that she sleeps on the weight of the cab
And she’s got jet black hair
But I know she only works with the worst of the drab
But it’s so laissez faire
And I know it might make you feel
A bit uncomfortable
But that’s just how she jams man
Well I heard that she sleeps on the way to the cab
Chorus 2:
And she’s a pirate radio queen
She’ll tell your mother what it means
To be a silent radio scene
And be a pirate radio reject

You know, it wasn't my favorite for a while, but for some reason my brain decided to listen to it on loop a few weeks ago and now I can't stop thinking about it.
I love the synths, the tone, the lyricism, even the music videos which I feel I should mention!!!
(also, should've been me reminds me a bit of abba which is an automatic bonus in my book) praisedrays

As I listen to this album more and more I start discover aspects that I hadn't felt before. My love for every individual track continues to grow, but Change has remained in my heart as a deep drive to get me through the day. seonghi
